Tap

Dance Classes

find the rhythm in your feet

About our tap classes

Tap is a great dance form to learn as it combines a love of dance, music and performance. It teaches the dancer about choreography, improvisation and syncopation.

You’ll love finding your inner rhythm and improving your sense for finding the beats and patterns in music. It requires a lot of aerobic movement and weight shift which improves your fitness, coordination, balance, and core control.

Tap dance can be adapted for any age or fitness level, from young children to senior citizens and everyone in between. Tap steps are complex. Learning, practising, and putting them together is great exercise for your brain. It doesn’t matter how old you are, making noise just feels good!

Tap Classes

Under 8s

For students under 8 years old we run 3 combination classes (Little, Mini & Junior Dancers) which include a tap section, along with ballet and modern.

The combination classes are great for younger kids as they love the variety and get a taste of them all.

ISTD Tap

Grades 1-5

For students aged 8+ we have dedicated tap classes in which we teach the ISTD syllabus from grades 1-5 and offer students the opportunity to sit exams.

Typically, Grade 1 starts at age 8 and Grade 5 is vocational level. Progression through the grades is based on ability not age.
