Tap Dance
Classes in Edinburgh, Queensferry & Roslin
Tap dance combines rythym with a love of dance, music and performance. It teaches choreography, improvisation and syncopation. It requires aerobic movement and weight shift which improves your fitness, coordination, balance, and core control. Steps can be complex meaning learning, practising, and putting them together is great exercise for your brain. Tap dance can be adapted for any age or fitness level. It doesn’t matter how old you are, making rythmic noise with your feet just feels good!
Classes are booked on a termly basis. Term dates are typically based on the Edinburgh school terms.

About our tap dance class options
ISTD Tap
Grades 1-5
For students aged 8-18 we have dedicated tap classes in which we teach the ISTD syllabus from grades 1-5 and offer students the opportunity to sit exams.
Typically, Grade 1 starts at age 8 and Grade 5 is vocational level. Progression through the grades is based more on ability and achievemnet of grades, rather than age.
Adult Tap Classes
18+ years
For dancers over the age of 18 we run three levels of tap class:
Beginner for people who have never tapped before;
Improver for those with at least one year’s experience and a grasp of the basic skills; and
Intermediate for those at a higher level wishing to work towards intermediate level grade steps.
Golden Tappers
50+ years
For dancers over the age of 50 we run three levels of tap class:
Beginner for people who have never tapped before;
Improver for those with at least one year’s experience and a grasp of the basic skills; and
Intermediate for those at a high level wishing to work towards intermediate grade
