What is Jazz dance?
Jazz dance is rooted in 20th century African American society and is characterised by rhythmic, expressive movements. Jazz dance arose with Jazz music, popularised in ballrooms by the big bands of the swing era in the 1930s and 1940s.
Jazz dance incorporates ragtime moves such as, Charleston, Lindy hop, and Mambo. It has had a foundational influence on many other dance styles such as hip hop, contemporary, and modern dance. But most of all, Jazz dane is energetic, chessey, and super fun.

Three styles that work beautifully together. Modern is a graded syllabus. Jazz & Contemporary bring the creative expresion and fun.
Open Jazz
S1+
From secondary school we introduce Jazz as a stand-alone style for those who are hooked on this fun, fast, sparkely dance style.
Adult Jazz
Open Level
Our adult Jazz class is an open level class for those with experience or without. We teacher technique, routines and repetorie from the best jazz musicals.
