Perform With percision & grace
About our ballet classes
Classical ballet is the foundation from which nearly all dance styles have developed and has a big influence on all the training we offer at DN Dance. Ballet requires strong technique, athleticism, poise, balance and precision.
It demands an almost invisible strength, where physically challenging moves and sequences are made to look effortless and graceful.
For students under 8 years we run 4 age-based combination classes (Tiny, Little, Mini & Junior Dancers). All include a ballet, tap and modern theatre section.
The combination classes are great for younger kids, they love the variety and get a taste of them all.
For students aged 8+ we run dedicated ballet classes following the ISTD syllabus from grades 1-5 and intermediate, offering students the opportunity to sit exams.
Grade 1 starts around age 8 and Intermediate reaches vocational level. Progression through the grades is based on ability not age.
For those studying ISTD Grade 2 or above. This is an open ballet class for any aspiring ballerina wishing to practise and develop their core techniques.
Repetition is the mother of skill. You must attend at least two ballet classes per week before you can be assessed to go on pointe.
For students taking two or more ballet classes per week at ISTD level 2 or above, or those who have done Pointe work previously.
The priority for this elegant dance style is learning how to execute exercises safely and with correct alignment.
Progressing Ballet Technique
For students studying at Grade 2 or above. PBT is all about training muscle memory to improve ballet technique.
Students will learn to feel which muscles initiate the correct alignment and how to engage those muscles for superior execution.
Adult Ballet & Pointe
Our range of classes for adults is for all ages, experience and ability. From those starting out for the first time, to those trained to a high level.
Our ballet classes are a great way to get fit, strengthen your important muscle groups, and have fun while you’re at it.
Still not sure?
If you aren’t sure what class is best for you or which level you should be dancing at, you should contact us for a consultation before booking a class.
Check out our timetable and book a taster session of any class for just £5. Taster sessions are a great way to experience a class before committing to a full term. It’s always best to do a taster first just to make sure the class content and level are right for your child.
We also offer Pointe classes, but these are by invitation only. If you have Pointe experience, please contact us to discuss options.
