Why join our adult dance classes?
Dancing is the perfect way to shake off the stresses of the week, get exercise, strengthen all your important muscle groups, and have fun while you’re doing it. We run adult dance classes in Edinburgh in our custom-built dance studios in Chesser. Our classes are for all ages and abilities from absolute beginners right up to those who trained to a high level and just love to get back in the studio to train. Whatever your age, experience or ability, we’ll have a class for you.
Classes are bookable on a termly basis and our terms dates are based on the Edinburgh school terms. Read more about our adult dance class options.
Adult Tap
Beginners
No experience required. Suitable for students of all ages with good general fitness. Tap shoes are essential.
Improvers
Practise and improve your tap skills. Increase your vocabulary of steps. Gain a greater understanding of rhythm, tempo and syncopation.
Some experience and basic skills and required. Suitable for all ages with good general fitness. Tap shoes are essential.
Intermediate
A faster pace class where you’ll learn to extend your abilities, learning a mix of combinations and varied rhythms in a friendly and inspiring environment.
Good level of experience and skill required. Suitable for all ages with good general fitness. Tap shoes are essential.
Adult Ballet
Beginners
Designed for the complete beginner or for those wanting to go back to basics.
Develop knowledge and skill in this enjoyable Ballet class which provides a fun and satisfying way to improve alignment, muscle tone, flexibility and coordination
Improvers
Focus on developing ballet technique using barre, centre work and allegro exercises.
Suitable for those who have completed at least one year of our beginner’s ballet classes or equivalent and have a good grasp of the basic techniques and terminology.
Inter/Advanced
Continue to develop your ballet repertoire with more advanced exercises and sequences.
Suitable for those who have completed at least two years of our beginner’s ballet classes or equivalent and have a good grasp of the most ballet techniques and terminology.
Other Classes
Adult Pointe
Be introduced to pointe work at a pace that allows you to understand how to execute the basic exercises safely and with correct alignment.
Suitable for students who are taking Intermediate Adult Ballet or those who have done Pointe work previously.
Adult Jazz
Beginners & Improv/Inter
Jazz is a style of dance you often see on stage at the West End. Full of energy and covering a variety of Jazz genres from Bob Fosse through to lyrical jazz
Each week we teach a segment of choreography, travelling combinations and technique exercises, all to upbeat music and with a sprinkle of sass!
